Hello, my good friend and how have you been? If you're a new subscriber here, welcome to the gang!😎
I hope you find value here, and that you stay happy nonetheless.
You haven't missed anything. The previous posts—from January till this moment—are all on the website, and yes, you'll receive subsequent newsletters directly in your mail.
“And why should I turn off my data? What if I miss an IMPORTANT update?” This is one of the many excuses we give when we hear anything that has to do with disconnecting from the digital space.
There is a high probability that 70% of the recipients of this newsletter are people I have not met, and a greater probability that I might not get to meet them in a lifetime.
How did they get to know about the newsletter? The power of networking. As the world is now digital, most of the interactions, jobs and opportunities are online. The world is rapidly evolving with virtually everyone literate about and exposed to the internet. There, you get to advertise and market your brands, connect with people you admire and look up to, and so much more! If you are determined, there are thousands of materials to benefit from; always at your disposal. Now, can we talk about the ‘us’ offline?
We have mentioned the advantages of staying connected while at home, hosting grand meetings even when coiled under the bed sheet, and earning reasonably remotely. Should we not talk about the infiltration of the media where the concerned agencies adapt news from a source and subject it to a complete reform, complement the altered version with catchy headlines just to attract more audience to their website or blog for the gain of it?
Or the daily warnings posed as stressors and even threat to our bliss because what we used to do is not what we should. Of course, it is better to be forewarned. A person chokes on pepper, and he is asked to drink water. What if he chokes on water, too?
With the way things appear in this present world of ours, staying disconnected, for many, is inevitable. There are infinite knowledge banks on the internet. Earning and trust ( for remote workers) is a reflection of your personality and influence, and how consistent are you with sharing values about whatever goods or services you've got for sale. Because really, not everyone knows the position you hold in your hamlet. How do we go about disconnecting to stabilise our mental health and sanity while still doing the things that matter online?
This would halt here. I want this newsletter to be as interactive as possible. Have you ever disconnected from your device or the digital space for any reason? How did you do that, and how did it go? I'll love to hear and learn from you. You can do that via the comments section or a personal email.
Suggested reading of the week: I enjoyed reading this article on speed reading by Paul Nowak. I think you would, too.
Here is a video on mental strength by Amy Morin.
In the next newsletter, I'll be sharing my ideas, and yours of course. May Allah spare our lives beyond then.
We won't stop learning and growing while keeping our mental health in check. No two reasons; it's because life is for the living. The moment we're gone, it all ends.
Till the very next time,
Roqeebat.
I had once disconnected from the digital space because I believed that the things I gained were less than the unnecessary things I do there. I returned after a short while because I realized that the little a gained there were very useful and I get involved with new things to reduce the unnecessary things I do on my device.
I really enjoyed reading this, thank you.
I had recently left the digital space. The break lasted for about a month or so. I didn't know exactly why I was going off although when a few close friends asked all I said was "I'm just taking a time off for myself."
It wasn't until 2 weeks into the break that I realized the exact reason I went off all social media platforms; there was just so many things going on. It was almost like I was lost amidst the turbulence of other people's life. It was overwhelming. Being constantly fed with everything about everyone and feeling a little in the shadows. While on this break, I realized as much as it was mentally exhausting, there were times I knew being on these platforms were making positive impacts in my life. And I couldn't just give it all up because of the inevitable con that comes with these platforms.
I could only limit myself to the benefits and honestly, there are a lot. This involved following pages I knew were aiding my growth and interacting with people on almost the same journey as I.
Okay, I'm talking too much now. Lol
This was a really nice read by the way. Thank you for sharing.
