Hello, dear friend. How are you doing? How has the previous weeks been?
You should have heard about the world jaw-dropping feat Tobi Amusan brought to Nigeria at Oregon. How did it make you feel? As for me, I felt emotional and proud when they wore the medal on her neck, and when they hummed the national anthem. Then, her tears...
To the business of the day.
Have you ever had to work under or collaborate with someone who never finds anything you do pleasing? Even if you had given the work all that you can, you still hear complaints and insults. Unmotivated to do more? Or, tired of the whole stuff?
Recently, I finished a course on Alison: Dealing with difficult people in life and work. The therapist in charge of the course, Prof Paul J. Cline, explained the skills used by therapists to deal with the most challenging people; why difficult people are the way they are; and working with them to achieve a common goal.
In life and work, dealing with difficult people can be inevitable. How does finding a way to work effectively with them despite their temper tantrums sound?
A few excerpt from the course:
1. See angry people as hurt, not bad.
2. Learning effective communication is very essential in that it allows for understanding people and why they act the way they do.
3. Let go of the idea that people would always act the way you want them to. Because they won't.
4. All control starts with self control. And overcoming frustration doesn't start with the other person, it really starts with controlling yourself.
5. Our control over our emotions lies in changing our explanatory styles (the way we explain things to ourselves), and our responses.

The last book recommendation was the 13 things mentally strong people don't do by Amy Morin. How did it go? Of the 13 rules, which did you find the most relatable?
